10 Signs You Are Turning into a Fitnut
Have you heard those advertisements promising weight loss with no change in diet and no exercise needed? Don't fall for it. Exercise is so important and not just for your body; for your mind. But keep in mind exercise alone won't allow you to eat whatever you want and lose weight. It is a combined effort. I went through a period in my life where I exercised 6 days a week for about a year and was still 30 pounds heavier. It is a combined effort between a balanced diet and exercise.
I definitely recommend joining a gym to get your exercise in for a few reasons. For one, you will discover that you are not alone. Every person in that gym is striving towards a similar goal. There is something comforting to look around and see other people sweating with you and putting in the hard work.
Also, for inspiration! I go to a co-ed gym and I have to admit, if I see a good-looking man lifting weights I may just put 10 more minutes into the elliptical. Much better than staring at a wall in your basement for 40 minutes.
Another reason is for the variety. If you get bored of the treadmill, there's usually fitness classes you can try out. I would not be able to do the same exercise routine 5 days a week every day for the rest of my life.
I do have to warn you... the healthier and more fit you become, the more likely you will turn into a fitnut. Here are the top 10 warning signs you are turning into a fitnut.
1. You can pronounce and spell Acai berry properly and you think it just might be the world's new "superfruit."
2. You find yourself peeing every 2 hours because you're drinking 8 glasses of water a day.
3. Your friends are tired of you challenging them to an arm wrestle.
4. You find yourself wearing your Lululemon pants grocery shopping.
5. You enjoy your daily bowel movements because you know you're getting enough fiber.
6. You panic when you forget to bring a towel to the gym because you SWEAT when you work out.
7. You wonder why people do drugs when you can feel the same way at the end of a spinning class for free.
8. You don't mind increasing in size... as long as it's muscle, not fat.
9. You enjoy feeling pain in muscles that you never thought you had.
