Resort wear is a specialized clothing style, as well as a year-round fashion "season". Sometimes known as "cruise wear", it was originally marketed by upscale stores and collections only to very affluent customers who were expected to spend the post-Christmas/New Year's weeks in warm-weather climates. Resort wear is very easy to carry and comfortable. Not only in India, but people across the globe love wearing it. I believe for outings or weekends the fashion conscious lot are updating their racks with resort wear; the key factor is to flaunt something very different and easy going. From walking shorts, caftans and sandals, to full-length evening dresses for women and light dinner jackets for men, resort wear is unique in its design and function.[citation needed] Resort wear is generally made from cotton, silk, denim, microfiber, straw and poplin that are easy to pack, lightweight and breathable. They are easy to clean and look great without ironing or fuss, much like the new hair styles that are casual, yet very fashionable.
The style has gained enormous popularity for many[who?] who demanded the comfort and ease of care the old summer clothes had, but tired of the stereotypical t-shirts, shorts and baseball caps seen by the masses. This newly-defined style instantly combines comfort and easy care with a fashion sense, comfort and personality, thus its sudden rise in visibility is no surprise.

Resort wear is quite unique when you think about it. Initially directed towards a small pocket of people who could afford to whisk themselves away to warmer climates for the holidays, the fashion industry has now deemed 'resort wear' a "season".
Resort wear appropriate for men and women are ‘country club' type clothing. Since the invitation is for dinner, then evening resort attire for men would be nice slacks, polo shirts, button down shirts, nice shoes or sandals, with the option of wearing a sport coat. For women: nice pants, skorts, skirts, nice top, casual dress, sundress, nice sandals or casual shoes. The length of the skirt or dress is knee length or longer.
Resort wear is getting big in India, especially Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and many other places with key factor being all-year-round hot/humid weather. People like simple and loving silhouette with flowy fabrics. Resort wear is a very trendy and eye-catchy line. It is something very unique, fun-filled and relaxed. People get bored with the conventional and embroidered party-wear in regular days, and so for an outing they want something more flowy with easy silhouette with chiffon and soft jersey materials.
