Luxform Garden Lighting Ordering help
Luxform are professionals in making dramatic outdoor lighting easy to set up.
In a Nut Shell:
You shall require a transformer that connects directly to the main run of cable. Then you will need a push fit connector to connect the main cable to the small length of cable on each light. you're done! Should you require a hand most of the staff should have used the lights before.
The first step - Decide on your garden lights
Select the 'style' of outside lights you wish to buy and how many lights you will need in your circuit. You could connect any of the 12v lights in to the circuit. For example you may use 2x Napoli lights, 2x uplights and 3x Modena lights all on the same circuit. Each light has a small amount of SPT1 cable to connect it with your main cable.
The second step - Pick your Luxform transformer
You will need to calculate what size transformer you need with regard to the total wattage of the lights. The total wattage can not surpass that of the transformer. The wattage of each light is detailed on each of the products. Simply add the wattage value of each light to give the total wattage value. Please note what the maximum wattage value per cable type and transformer outlet are.
A few examples are:
If you had 1x Napoli Light (this is 20w) and 1x uplight (this is 20w) then the total is 40w and you would need the 60w or the 150w transformers.
If you had 2x Napoli lights (2x 20w) and 3x uplights (3x20w) then the total is 100w and you would need the 150w transformer.
Step Three - Decide on your cable
SPT1 Light Duty cable. This comes in 15m or 10m lengths also containing a moulded plug to connect to the transformer outlet. Two cables can be connected to each other using the appropriate connector. The maximum run length for this cable is 30m from the transformer with a recommended maximum wattage of 75 watts.
SPT3 Heavy Duty Cable. This comes in 15m or 10m lengths complete with a moulded plug to attach to the transformer outlet. Two cables may be connected together using the appropriate connector. The maximum run length for this cable is 45m from the transformer with a recommended maximum wattage of 150 watts.
The final step - Select your accessories and spares
Connectors come in three kinds
Cable connectors work by simply putting the cable into the groove of the connector and then clamping it shut. This creates the contact between the cables.
1. SPT1 to SPT1 this wil connect small cables together.
2. SPT3 to SPT1 cable connectors (All lights come with SPT1 Cable to join to the circuit. If you have a big SPT3 cable in your circuit you will need these to fasten each light to the circuit)
3. SPT3 to SPT3 Cable connector to attach SPT3 Cables together.
Things to note:
1. As it is 12v, the end of the cable can be left un-protected outside. The cable connector does not have to be protected against rain or other weather conditions. These can be placed without any problems on or under the ground.
2. Each light has a length of SPT-1 cable which then connects to the main cable from the transformer.
3. How many lights could be connected to a transformer?
The maximum wattage of the combined lights is may not exceed the wattage of the used transformer.
4. Could I put the transformer outside?
All transformers are labelled with the code IP44 and can be located outside without protection.
5. Is it dangerous when I accidentally cut the cable?
Damaged cables can develop through cutting the cable with a tool or digging animals. It is not unsafe as the cable works on a safe current of 12 Volts.
